Letter, Feb. 25, 1856, from Bissell in Belleville, Ill. to McAlester offering his services as agent for buying government land located close to the Illinois Central Railroad. Trust deeds, Dec. 8 and 27, 1856, for McAlester and Markoe. Typed transcript of Bissell's letter and agreement between the land company and Bissell. Land certificate for eighty acres granted to William Bissell, March 12, 1857.
